Salary: $84,794 – $93,020 per annum
Duties:The Field Operations Officer (APS5) will work within the Field Operations team under the broad direction of the section’s coordinators, working on various projects and activities relating to the provision of field support to the Australian Antarctic Program (AAP).
The position has both operational and administrative focus where the successful applicant will be required to work with a level of autonomy and be capable of managing and prioritising their own personal workloads and those of the section more broadly. Specifically, this position participates in the coordination of inventory management, procurement of field equipment and clothing, head office and station based stocktake activities and electronic consignment of cargo. The field operations environment is a dynamic and changeable one which requires a flexible and nimble approach to the way daily functions are prioritised.
This position plays a key role in ensuring the delivery of safe field operations to the AAP.
Key duties will include, but are not limited to:
- The Field Operations Officer is responsible for coordinating head office and station based stocktake of field equipment and the procurement and resupply of consumable items.
- The role oversees and coordinates aspects of the electronic inventory management system to ensure that critical items of safety and personal protective equipment are supplied in a timely manner.
- The role is responsible for the electronic consignment of cargo to the AAP via shipping and aviation services.
- The role contributes to the management of relationships with both internal and external stakeholders, anticipating problems and contributing to issues management.
- The role provides administrative assistance and oversight to the broader management and leadership of the Field Operations team.
- The role assists in the delivery of deep field camps to the AAP by supporting the bespoke and evolving needs of field operations in extremely remote environments.
- The role supports the vision and objective of the Station & Field Operations section.
