Salary: $84,794 – $93,020 per annum
Duties:- Cargo Processing
- Support the Cargo Operations Team Lead in defining, introducing and promoting a consistent standard of cargo packing techniques and presentation requirements.
- Develop and maintain succinct cargo packing documentation and seasonal communications on this subject, providing useful guidance to Logistics Officers, Station Supply personnel and, where appropriate, general consigners of cargo.
- Quality Assurance
- Work collaboratively with Logistics Officers and other Supply Chain Personnel to facilitate and establish safe packing processes utilising various cargo transportation units, and ad hoc out-of-gauge packing processes where applicable.
- Undertake assurance checks on packed cargo transport units to ensure conformance with relevant AAD procedures and federal/ international legislation.
- Engagement
- Engage proactively with internal and external stakeholders to facilitate safe and efficient cargo operations. Work directly with the AAD’s Maritime Operations and voyage management teams to support the presentation of cargo.
- Maintain positive and productive working relationships on behalf of the section with suppliers, key consignor groups and regulatory bodies.
- Provision of Technical Advice
- Provide clear, specific guidance to Supply Chain Staff and other relevant stakeholders on cargo manifest and cargo transport unit compliance requirements.
- Compliance
- Maintain strong compliance with customs and biosecurity regulations and ensure processes & procedures maintain the AAD’s Approved Arrangement Accreditation and Customs Depot Licence.
- Work with the Senior Import / Export Officer and Import / Export Team to ensure all reporting and manifest requirements are accurate and meet required timeframes.
- Biosecurity
- Ensure physical and process controls to enhance biosecurity are maintained at the Cargo & Biosecurity Centre, and work closely with Biosecurity Australia, Tasmania Parks and Wildlife Service, together with the AAD’s Environmental Management Unit to champion the importance of protecting the Antarctic and Sub-Antarctic’s biosecurity.
- Sensitive Cargo Management
- Support the end-to-end management of the temperature sensitive supply chain.
- Maintain and deliver process controls to ensure the integrity of temperature sensitive cargo including the maintenance of the integrated fridge/freezers, refrigerated containers, insulated flight boxes and powered cold boxes.
- Training
- Assist with the preparation and delivery of cargo packing and presentation training for Station Supply Officers and other AAD personnel.
- Safety
- Actively contribute to the safe working environment at the AAD and foster a strong safety culture within the team.
- Provide oversight of a safe working environment at the Cargo & Biosecurity Centre and associated wharf operating areas.
